Merger Transition Liaisons Update (sent to employees 06.11.25)

Hello,

We can’t thank you enough for your enthusiasm around the planned merger between the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Russell Sage College. It was thrilling to see so many people at the Community Cookout last month, where we started to get to know each other over great food and fun. As we finalize the Definitive Agreement for completion by July 2025, we are ready to move to the next steps in this merger process and wanted to provide you with an update.

As part of the merger announcement, we talked about transition teams and wanted to clarify what that means. Transition liaisons have been appointed for each institution who will collaborate around several topics. There won’t be formal teams or committees. Out of respect for everyone’s time, transition liaisons will pull in members of our campus communities as their expertise or perspective is required in generating and shaping plans.

The transition liaisons will develop plans for regulatory body engagement, communications/marketing, academic programs, student affairs, research, facilities, athletics, HR benefits and employee handbook, enrollment management, faculty handbook, workload policies, culture and change management, and other topics. Some liaisons will begin their work during the summer months, while other transition liaisons – including Faculty and Academic Affairs, Academic Administration, and Board Governance – will begin their work in late August/September once faculty have returned to campus.

Please see the attached spreadsheet for the transition liaison information. (Attachment withheld for website). We will provide regular email updates throughout the process.

Thanks again for your work and your commitment to moving this exciting new partnership forward.

Sincerely,

Matthew Shaftel
